Herbal Medicine is the use of plant remedies in the treatment of disease and is considered to be one of the oldest forms of medicine.
Our bodies have an innate ability to heal themselves and herbs have been used for thousands of years to bring this balance back to the body. Plants with a particular affinity for certain organs or systems of the body are used to ‘feed’ and restore to health those parts which have become weakened. As the body is strengthened so is its power and ability to fight off disease and when balance and harmony are restored, health will be regained.
Herbs are very easy for the human body to assimilate as they have been part of the human diet for thousands of years. Herbal medicine offers a safe, gentle and effective approach to health and is suitable for all from the very young to the very old.
The first consultation will take an hour and a half and a comprehensive history will be taken in order to build a picture of you as a unique human being. The second appointment may follow in two weeks, subsequent ones occurring at regular intervals and the herbal prescription will be changed as your condition improves. Suggestions will also be made on how to change your diet and lifestyle. There is a wide range of plant based remedies both internal and external and we will find the ones which are most appropriate for you and your health problem. These might include tinctures, powders, capsules, aromatic waters, essential oils, teas, syrups or creams.
