About Swedish Massage:
Swedish massage is a classic form of massage for rehabilitation and relaxation. There are five types of stroke that make up the traditional Swedish massage technique. The therapist will use their hands, forearms or elbows to rub your muscles in long gliding movements pushing blood in the direction of your heart. An oil or lotion is used to help with movement. There’s also kneading and tapping and your limbs may be bent and stretched to optimise mobility which can be particularly good post training or when you have been spending long hours sitting at a desk. The circulatory and lymph system are boosted using careful movements to promote blood and lymph flow.
Treatment:
Before treatment, your therapist will provide a full consultation discussing your health and lifestyle. Most full body massage treatments take approximately an hour, though a ‘back, neck and shoulder’ massage may take between 30 to 40 minutes. Your treatment will take place on a massage table and attention will be paid to your comfort at all times. Towels are carefully placed to ensure your modesty and keep you warm and comfortable throughout the treatment.
You can also request a magnesium oil massage which uses a therapeutic form of magnesium as a transdermal application. This is a specialised treatment which Eilish has used for over 5 years with clients and has demonstrated benefits for clients with chronic muscular tension and pain. Magnesium oil was shown in pilot studies to be more effectively absorbed through the skin than orally and this may be more suitable for certain clients. If you have any queries then discuss them with Eilish prior to your treatment.
